Default Supra Tranny

Just curious, wanted to start a discussion thread about supra trannys.
Getrag 6 speed
Cost invloved:
Custom adapter plate
Custom Driveshaft
Custom clutch (twin disk most likely)
Custom mount
Custom shifter
New or Used supra tranny
possible modification of opening in tranny tunnel for shifter

This setup should be able to hold all the power (and lack of TQ lol) that an f20/f22 can make, and be launched without failure.

I feel this is a much better solution to the PPG gear set (which has already broken on a few members, no warranty remember), and it's honestly not that much more $.

This also doesn't restrict the car to strictly drag, the way some guys have done by going with an automatic tranny.

NEW price of tranny, cheaper than PPG gear set

Used they are around $4kish

By the time you spend all that money, you could have just bought a Poopra and been 10x ahead

i know that thats why im selling my car.

but think about breaking ap1 or ap2 trannys and all the time and $ wasted on fixing them just to be back at square one, not knowing if your tranny will break every time you hit the gas.

this is a semi affordable solution to a bulletproof drivetrain.

Those trannys are expensive. Time it would take custom fabbing stuff for the install im sure you could of had 8 stock trannys or swapped in a gforce 5 speed

How about a Tremec T56 6 speed trans? The shifter placement looks more inline with the OEM trans and it even looks similar to the OEM trans.

If I'm not mistaken, the shifter placement can also be adjusted with this trans.

I dont believe the t56 can take high rpm shifts well. This is the reason you want to use the t5 swap

I dont know . It would be larger than a t56 is a concern , but It might make good on shifter placement . Someone buy one and see if it can take a 9k shift and let us know lol

My buddies tremec has an adjustable shifter point in his mustang.

It's a 427 (7L) and makes 700whp on a 200 shot.

It seems to hold the tq, and is FAR beyond what we would ever see.

Even at 1000whp we wouldn't be near 700wtq, lol.
