So roughly $3k total for the tans with bellhousing? How is this radically cheaper than a V160 again?
Um easy v160 3-4500 depends on miles and so on 2200.00 for.clutch and 1000.00 for.fbm adapter so on cheap side 6200.00

The big deal tho very few pep work on v160 and if u mess it up its least 2500.00 to fix and u have to ship it.off and hope parts are in stock

T56 there are tons and tons of them cheap to work on parts cheap and a millon shops that work on the parts are everywhere if not in stock can be over nighted and o cheap to work on

So add 1500 for clutch on the T-56, plus whatever time/money for mounts and you're around $5000. A good amount cheaper than a V160 swap, but it's not like it would be done for half. That, and I'm not sure how a faceplated trans could ever shift as smooth as one with synchros

(faceplated on right, synchro on far left)

Don't get me wrong, I think there are some benefits to doing this, availability being the biggest advantage over the V160. Personally I think the person who would want to do this swap races at the strip. Not trying to go after you here, just trying to play devil's advocate.

I undestand its just that every big power s that has turned good et's at track has hurt there trans and have to drop 3k to rebuild so there at 9200 on the cheap side and i cant tske that chance

The t56 is very streetable tho.i will street drive mine

You tell me where I can get a good v160 for 4k and I'll do the swap lol, t56 at tops 1000 v150 4500+, your saving 3500 right there, if fbm does adapter plate and clutch like was done for v160 your at least saving $4000, I just wish I had the knowledge on how to do the swap, after my car was completed I would pair up with a shop to come out with a kit to produce, even a z33 transmission would be good, not knocking v160 but sheesh there has to be other ways

these are all legitimate choices for the street with mild hp, but i believe there are better options for the higher hp, especially if its strictly a drag strip car.
