Get better retainers, while your in there, there's no reason not to do dual valve springs as well since it's already apart. Stock valves are good for a lot of power

I have to agree. Mine has been solid for years. Was a giant pain in the Dick to install but no issues to report.

I have the hondata intake gasket have 2k miles on it have tightened it up once so far so good. I wouldn't spin it much past 9k as you will increase cylinder wear for minimal gains good luck with it. what head studs did you decide to go with?
