Wait... are you tapping the pan while its still on the car? I took off my oil pan and used whatever size bit I wanted. I don't even know wtf a girdle is on a car so maybe you are talking about a different part of the block then the pan.

The pan is not a good idea to put the oil drain. No matter where you put the drain on the pan you will always have pressure areas from the crank and possible oil sloshing around which will inhibit oil drains.
The absolute best place to put the oil drain is in the girdle or skirt that is just above the oil pan. Just remove the oil pan and you can see how much better of a place it really is and why UR uses this area for the turbo drain.

The girdle is what helps your engine stay together when you rev to 9K
It's the main crank support
As far as the drain, good advice is not to tap the pan.
I had tapped the pain on my kit. And while it ran fine for a while, it is just a time bomb as I found out later on. Oil started coming out of the turbo inlet in.
I put the drain in the girdle instead and the problem went away.
Thanks for all the advice guys.. I ended up taking the drill bit to a local machine shop and had them cut another 1 1/2" off the flute end and resharpen it.
