Sure i dont see why not for the tap and bit the drill on the other hand thats a different story the drill was my friends 300 buck drill i dont think he would let someone else other then me borrow it sorry. But i mean you can use any right angle drill now that we redused the shank size to 3/8

No clue maybe someone else on here can answer that.
All i know is that my old car's girdle was tapped and i never had a problem with oil backing up to my turbo
So am going with what i know works

WAYYYYY before Jeff even mentioned anything about posting this thread we both had this idea, but wanted to see how everyone else was going about doing this.
EASIER way, this was the last resort.
Although i still think if i had purchased the 24" bit i could have still drilled the girdle from the passenger wheel side the subframe is angled just right so i can fit a drill thru it. Maybe someone else can try this.

Probably because it was easier to use a return line that bolted up in place of the oil drain plug, rather than drill and tap into the engine block (or oil pan, like the Vortech). My mechanic and I came to that conclusion when we installed mine a few years back. Personally, I didn't like Comptech's "solution" to the oil drain, but it's worked fine for the past 2 years.

When the time comes to rebuild my motor, I'm definitely going to rework the Comptech to drain into the girdle area, just as Cherry04 has demonstrated above.

when i put my comptech kit on, i was told not to use the oil drain but to tap the pan just above it. was i misled?

No alot of ppl tap the oil pan, you can always replace the oil pan if you F@(&% up you know?
You CANT make a mistake tapping your girdle its unforgiving, i guess you could always weld if you mess up but who wants to do that.
The right way of doing it is tapping your girdle

Believe it or not, I think the way you've installed your Comptech oil drain is the way to go. Like I mentioned in my earlier post, if I could do it all over again, I would've tapped into the block like Cherry04 did.

Just for reference, according to Comptech's instructions, the oil pan drain plug is supposed to be replaced with the provided 14mm to -8 male fitting. The actual drain tube coming from the back of the blower is then supposed to be connected to that fitting. I believe all the Comptech kits were installed this way, but I'm not sure (the earlier kits may have had different instructions). Here's a snapshot of the Comptech instructions:


The only supercharger kit that I'm aware of that required you to drill and tap into anything was the Vortech. To install the drain on the Vortech, you are instructed to drill and tap into the oil pan. I believe the Vortech kit even came with a drill bit for the drilling.
