Default TCT swap with Vortech SC

has anyone ever attempted to swap their TCT with a Vortech SC? it seems do-able, but just time consuming? i attempted to swap it out and was able to get the 2 bolts loose, but that's about it. would it be easier to remove the vtec solenoid from the bracket to have more access from the top? any tips?

TIA!

::UPDATE::
removing the vtec solenoid with (3) 10mm bolts and unclipping the 2 clips was far easier than attempting to maneuver around to the tct beneath the vortech sc bracket solenoid bracket.

so yes, replacing the tct with a basic 10mm socket and 10mm wrench IS do-able

Yes it is possible. Like you said, it is very time consuming as you cannot see any of the bolts you are working with. You may want to wear a long sleeve shirt or place a rag over the heat shield as it has tendency to dig into your skin.

Overall it is a major pain, but still easier than removing the SC bracket.

Easier to get to the bolts from the bottom in same cases. If you have access to the lift it makes it so much easier. THis was the case with my Comptech.

Billman swapped my TCT with the Vortech in place, and he made it look easy. <<not surprised >>

Maybe he can chime in.

I removed the vtec solenoid when I replaced mine, it's simple, it just takes a little more time.

Careful with removing VTEC solenoid, things are getting old and if your in a seasonal environment that gasket will get brittle and break easily just by removing it sometimes it sticks to both surfaces.

Just FYI doesn't hurt to have one on standby. I live in HI and I guess dealerships don't have the space to keep things stocked as much so I have to do alot of forward thinking just in case cause the soonest I can get anything is a three day wait.

removing the vtec solenoid was the only way to get this job done within 1.5 hours with just a socket and a wrench

luckily my vtec solenoid gasket is fairly new so it was perfectly fine when it came off
