Default Are there any downsides to the emanage

In the following month or so (whenever I solve my pending problems). I plan on getting the emanage along with a smaller pulley and injectors. Are there any downsides to the emanage as far as drivability? What I mean is will the car drive the same as it did before?

Also, I am going to have to travel a ways to get the car tuned. Is the emanage something that has to be "adjusted" or re-tuned over time?

As always, thank you for helping out a F/I newb!

My car didn't like to idle cold for the first few seconds, and would occasionally throw a P1106 due to the Map sensor input being screwed with to compensate for the larger injectors.

The e-manage is pretty stable, they don't forget the map that is installed.

The biggest issue is finding a tuner that has some experience with one.

Have you checked the FI FAQ? Many e-manage links have been added.

SlowS2k- I should find out this week about my P1106 code. Thank you for all of your help!!

About the emanage, I'll have to check out the links. What injectors and what size pulley were you using? Is it common to throw that code with the emanage?

My old combination:

440cc RC's
AEM FPR set at 55psi static
Toda Header
T1R test pipe
Mugen exhaust
Stock pulley 5" on a Vortech
Remapped split second Timing controller, and the E-manage running the injectors only.

When I did my E-manage I installed but turned off all features except boost limit. SO it was effectively a very expensive ESM. I then drove to the tuner's, installed the injectors, removed the FPR and let him tune it.

Yes, I will have to do the same when and if I get mine. My only concern is that the closest reputable tuner is close to a 5 hour drive. I am also wondering how much the climate shifts of St. Louis will have on FI after reading that thread in FAQ where SlowS2k speaks of cold weather detonation. I am very new to non-factory FI, how does one compensate for the changes in climate? Do you have multiple maps?

I did the same.

Drove 2.5 hours to the tuner on the e-manage as a Map clamp, using the stock injectors and FMU.

I installed the injectors on the dyno, and pulled the vacuum line from the FMU.

Slow- Did your map have to be altered to allow for climate changes? My S is my daily driver and is driven in 20'-100' weather, both rain and shine.

Nope, no changes where made for winter or summer. It still didn't like to idle for the 1st few seconds on cold days.

I only had detonation issues with winter fuel, which was fixed after re-mapping the split second controller from Vortech.

Would a good tuner be able to compensate for that using just the emanage? I won't be using a secondary timing box being that I am using a comptech blower.

EDIT:
Looking further into the emanage ultimate, it seems this piggyback controls the timing directly. Or am I mis-reading it? It seems that this is a much better system and is probably worth me saving a little more cash.

Slow- What do you think of the emanage ultimate? Do you think its timing control is superior enough to justify its inflated cost?
