Default Thoughts on BW S362 turbo?

Hey All,

I am in the process of getting ready to go boost, and i still am having trouble with the choosing a turbo, i am up between a GT3582R and a Borg Warner S362 with extended tip technology (ETT). I am looking for decent spool because this is a street car, and am looking for 500ish wheel horsepower for the time being, my question is what turbo is better? Where does a 362 normally hit full boost? this will be on a custom EL topmount manifold.... does anyone have experience with BW turbos?

any help would be great!

Jeremy

I have heard nothing but good things about borg warner turbos. They arent too expensive either. Jeff Evans sells them on his website for the cheapest i have seen. You may want to email him and ask him about it. I asked him about that perticular turbo and from what i remember he said it would spool slightly quicker and have slightly more top end than a 35r. Jeff knows a lot about them.

Yeah the ETT series are pretty good. Just seem to appear larger from the housings so it makes fitting one a little tougher since you have less room to play with.

Overall, the S362 is a very nice turbo. I would personally go with the T4 twin scroll style for better spool. They definitely can make more power than a 35R, but you cant get ball bearing. They are inexpensive which is nice, rarely do they have problems.

The compressor housings are rather large and dont fit easily, they are also somewhat heavy compared to a Garrett of similar size, so make sure to have a brace of some sort.

i would like to stick with a t3 flange, and use something close to a .82a/r turbine housing like i would on a 35r, what size would you suggest? what is the normal going price for this turbo (i think evans has it for like $1200) would this be a good turbo for my desired goals? (500ish whp)

It would be more than fine for 500whp. A little big, but room to turn it up more.

Edit: Normal price for these is $1200-1300.
