So what fails on the ARPs?

The bolt holding the head down, the actual stud itself into the block?

Just wondering, stock is a bolt with the nut on top.

Also these ARPs are for Preludes arenty they?

Is there a reason we are putting them in s2000s?

i always wondered this too, i know they fit the s2000 but why didn't arp make an s2000 set, so it seems 90 to 95 with moly lube is the right specs on the arps, did anyone have a failure with arps and retourque them after a few heat cycles?

My ARP box says S2000 and they have s2000 listed in their catalog. So sure there is a set made for our car. However i dont know if they differ to the Prelude studs or not.

Most failures with ARP's are from improper torque and lube. ARP's do not need to be retorqued if done right the first time.

They have had a kit out for the S2000 for quite some time now. 2 years at the least, I believe.

I don't understand why ARP's have such a bad name here. Look at some of the high boostfed Civic, Integras, Prelude (H22) engine, etc. 99% of them use these studs without problems. 40+psi... 8,9 second cars...

The OEM's have proven to hold under pressure without any issues but they are bolts not studs. Imagine stripping a thread in the block.. what a pain that would be.

There have been so many failures because people have used the factory method for tightening the studs and they have crushed the gackets or warped the heads. The factory method is way too much torque for studs. The studs should be torqued to 85 ft-lb, 90 max, using moly lube.

Damn
I am so undecided on what to use, I have a brand new set of oem studs sitting here, but not sure if they can withstand 20psi or more.

But the ARPs scare me so much

Since ARP has been around since the beginning of time and used on countless numbers of high performance vehicles one would think that they have their s_it together. I've used them numerous times on other cars and have just used them in my turbo build. Very, very, simple. Follow their torque specs on the box. Follow the torque sequence out of the manual. Preferably, use the moly them provide in your box of studs. There is a different number for the Prelude studs and the S2000 studs. Enjoy your engine.
