Just ordered this one for a friend http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CMG-TCET5009/ They rate it to 600ft/lbs, opinions? Would get it in 6-speed but would it last?

For synchro yes T1 can get them at around 5k and delivery dates will be around may. I bought one for the season just to run some times. For what its worth im going to switch over to a liberty lsc5000 or equilizer trans . LSC5000 is almost the same as the gforce gf5r which im guessing is what you run . They all use the old doug nash case which is bullet proof as it gets for power ranges 1000 and below.

Im intrested in which bell housing you used ?

to the OP you can go on sites like racing junk and find race transmissions for cheap you just need to make sure its the gear ratio you will want.

I think he mentioned above about the bellhousing he used.

Thanks for the info! Great site.

I'm kind of a newb when it comes to transmissions... can someone explain (in laymans terms if possible) the different components to transmissions, and how to match them up to the rest of your driveline? By that I mean stuff like the bellhousing, splines, and how all that mates up to the engine/driveshaft etc...

That would be greatly appreciated...

Synchro set will be nice for street/weekend car. Thank you for the info.

Yes I'm using the gf5r. With the starter on the block side it opens up your choice for a bellhousing.

s2king runs liberty.

PPG synchro set which is leaps and bounds better than a stock gear is only about 5k

Gforce trans can be clutch assisted and h pattern just depends on which ya get.
s2king did run a ppg gearset in a stock case.

i know the options with gforce, if a gated clutchless trans is an option (which it is) why would anyone get anything else unless you cant per the rules of some sanctioning body? i wouldnt trade my gforce for anything
oops didnt see this reply.

I think s2kin ditched ppg right around the time they broke into the 8s. Like you stated the gears are only a bandaid .

Most guys wont run a verticle gate just because 99% of the people drive them on the street. If you set your clutch up for drag racing and tried to drive it around on the street you would be stuck in someones rear bumper mighty quick.

To the OP another option for 500hp range is the gforce t5 face plated swap. Company called laivins has the swap already figured out and ready for complete install. It is 7k but provides easy R&R unlike PPG and stock case. http://www.laivins.com/

How does the Gforce do with high rpm shifts? 9500+ rpm?

I knew they had switches to liberty but thought it was more recent.

The cheaper ppg synchro set should be more than enough for a regular street/weekend car making under 750 whp I'd think.

The gforce doesn't care what rpm. Just like with any other straight cut gear set.

We shift at 10.5 to 11k.
