Why has nobody mentioned that using the thicker head gasket will make less power at 9:1 than a stock headgasket and 9:1 pistons. It will also be more prone to detonation than the stock headgasket and 9:1 pistons. The quench will be much better with the stock headgasket, etc... The thicker headgasket is a bad idea in general, and is only used if you have no other option when compared to a motor built for the right compression.

9-9.5 to 1 would be perfect and should give a lot of trouble free miles at 12psi and leave you with some amount of headroom for slightly off tunes, etc...

FYI this is what I building the racecar to be. (9:1 and 12psi max). This isn't a bad combination at all. A lot of factory turbos are 9:1 and about that boost.

I have to agree, I do not like the idea of running 3mm worth of gasket. Low compression pistons would be the correct way to do things.

really? various individuals, as well as inlinepro, have been telling me that 10psi on stock compression is pushing it.
Tell that to Mase. I believe he had a stock compression S2k (completely stock engine aside from fuel management and EMS) at 22psi for a few runs... I believe they had it regularly at 15psi. It is all in the tune.

As far as power drop off-boost, YES, you will feel it with 9:1 CR.

What sleeves are you going with? I hope not the stock FRM, as your piston selection will be greatly limited...

I believe you can get CP pistons in whatever CR you want from Laskey Racing... Note the "Honda Custom bore and compression ratios" category.

I love this forum, and the people who contribute to it.

My set of JE 9:1's will be here this week. I am trying to get in contact with a member on here who offered to sell me a set of JE 9.8:1's, but if that falls through, I'll go with the 9:1's.

Ductile iron sleeves. Benson I believe.
