Default Turbine A/R sizing

Well, I chose everything for my car based on what I will do in the long run. Well, it turns out I'm not gonna be able to do a stroker kit for a while even longer now.

For the current setup, my turbo is just huge and spools really crappily and builds little boost in the lower gears. I figured over winter, I'd swap on a smaller A/R turbine housing, see how that helps, and then try to get some big hp out of her too by running around 29-30psi.

The turbo is a billet 6765HP with a T4 .81A/R turbine housing. I have emailed a vendor and it looks like I have 2 choices that are compatible. I can get a .58A/R housing and a .68A/R housing.

Since its a T4 flanged turbo, is the A/R different compared to the same A/R on a T3 flanged turbo? I'm leaning towards the .58A/R housing and hoping that wont be a restriction. What are your guys' thoughts?

I think the t4 with a .68ar would be like a t3 with a .81ar. I would go with the .68 ar on ur setup.

I had the 6165 .63 on my ILP log and it worked pretty good full spool by around 5k. So maybe the .68 but your dyno looked like it needed a lot of love if you want more of a street set up. Why not just get a smaller turbo?

I have thought about that, but turbine housings are a couple hundred bucks. A new turbo is a grand. I like the turbo in 3rd gear through 6th, but the main complaint is building boost in the lower gears. Will a smaller housing help that a decent amount? If not, I'll look more into a 6262.

So your saying a t3 w/an .81 a/r is similar to a t4 and a .58 a/r?
