Default which turbo is right for me?

shooting for just around 500whp. plan on using the P-Fab mini manifold.

I would like something fast spooling, but capable of making atleast 450whp, or close to 500. If this can be done without boosting very highly then even better.

I'm leaning towards the Garrett GT3071R. comes with these options:

Turbine
-Wheel: 60mm w/ 84 trim
-Housing: .63 ar, .82 ar, 1.06 ar

Compressor
-Wheel: 71mm w/ 56 trim
-Housing: .50 ar
-Compressor inlet: 2.75 or 4.00 inlet.

what would be the best set-up in your opinions? whether it be setting this turbo up the right way, or recommending another. I do not know much as far as turbo sizing, and such so all help appreciated.

30r or 35 r hands down, i would go with the p fab tubular instead of the log if you really wanna make more power per psi

I really see no reason to get a gt35r, the 30r series has a better powerband in the middle of the rpm range it just happens to get beat up top by the gt35, Anyone who really wants a drivers beast should get the 30r, dyno queens can have the 35r and larger,

very true, there really is no need for the 35r unless you are going over 500 hp, i plan on right about 500hp with the 30r on 15-16 psi

same goal here. about 500 within 14-17psi would do just right.

I know the gt35R makes better top end, but I like the idea of the gt30R making better bottom end with close to similar top end. However you mentioned getting the tubular instead, but I'm also trying to keep under hood temps down as much as possible. Would this manifold not cause higher temps in engine bay? Also is there slower spool time with tubular designs?

however I do not know how to go about choosing housing sizes, turbine sizes, etc?!?! Smaller number on the turbine housing = quicker spool? go with larger or smaller turbine inlet? like I said I've no knowledge of these aspects of turbos.

no way your gonna run 14 to 17 psi on stock compression, get the 3mm head gasket, tubular will def help spool not hurt it, prob slightly higher temps in the engine bay with the tubular but nothing to worry about, i would go with a high temp coating on the mani too, check out swain tech, i went hpc but i wish i went swaintech, just bc i want my manifold in white

thank you for the info. I've heard of HPC and Jet Hot, but never swain. will look into it. Oh and the motor won't be stock comp

If your into straight line performance, the 30 is not the best choice, the 35 is. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean others can't...Dyno queen with just a 35R? Hah, I think not....
