That was from a conversation I had with Mase a few months back, as he was prepping for Phil's kit (the car was already over at the shop). I believe he said 750 was his best estimate of the failure point. And he cited the I-beam vs. H-beam design as the problem.
I will tell you right now that Mase was on crack if he told you the OEM rods are good for 750hp. You might see a few runs on the dyno before they snap, but I can guarantee you that if you try and drive the car for even a week it will be toast. There is a big difference in tuning for big power on a dyno, and then being able to reliably apply it on the road.

I will say he did not say anything about reliability... I will give you that however, I think anything that powerful you are definitely going to sacrifice reliability... comes with the territory. I didn't mean to get off topic...

Come on John...who cares it you are able to make 800hp on the dyno only to blow the engine the first time you run down the strip. Bragging rights are backed-up on the track; not on the dyno. I could give a crap if a 800hp S2000 can hold-up to countless runs on the dyno--if it breaks-down the first time it runs down the track the effort was a complete failure.

I would still invest in a better tune. I realize your brother is free and all, but your kit should be putting out so much more than it is (unless that IP log mani is really choking the turbo)... but then again, you are running on e85? Should be able to contain a LOT more boost with that fuel without detonating... There was a vendor on here who had a bad-ass e85 car...

John
my brother is pretty good at what he does, I had a turbo gsr tuned by mase and my brother had to clean up where it wasn't "finished" and I gained more power and mpg and I also drove on that setup for 3 years est 25000 miles with zero problems.

Consummate tuning is by far the best in the Midwest imo
