Use current turbo or go bigger?

I disagree. Go back 5-6 years and you will see that the same claims would be made with only 6-8psi. Its extremely hard to say X psi is where you get detonation. There is entirely too many other factors to say that. Timing being one. Another being intake pressure vs. manifold pressure. This is determined more by set-up than X psi. Im currently running 15psi but was running 16.1 at first. I was tapping the efficiency of my set-up and that had to do with turbo size, log manifold, intercooler size(2.25") etc. However I think with current set-up's out there this floating safe number seems to be 16psi for pump on street and maybe as much as 20psi pump for the "i don't care if it blows up". Again its hard to say as my current small turbo and log manifold will flow far less air than say a ELM with a GT35 or GT40. Its really a function of heat in relationship to psi in and back pressure which is reliant on the "set-up". The 13-14psi seems to the very safe/ conservative zone.

I said 14ish in some cases it's 13 in others 15 all depending how efficient the setup is it all varies. But that's the common consensus and there's a lot of tuners who stop there for that reason. You try to run 20psi on a 30r on stock block and watch how retarded the timings gunna be to keep it from knocking, just because you can run more boost doesn't mean you'll make more power cause at some point detonation will occur. Sure you can run alittle baby turbo at 16 psi and then something like a 6262 at less psi and probably move more air so like I said it all depends on the setup

With a Full Race manifold, most who have run the GT3076R have broken 500 whp on pump gas. Your limit of 15 psi may make it a bit more difficult. I think many of them were running 16-18 psi. Many of them were running 100% stock engines. You can probably break 400 whp at 10 psi (I did), with that in mind, 500 whp would come at close to 16 psi. The trick is in the tune and the efficiency of the turbo setup. Log manifolds won't be able to make anywhere near that much power or boost without destroying the motor. Full Race makes an exceptionally efficient turbo kit and the GT3076R is a great match for this motor which makes high power levels possible on pump gas and a stock engine.

With that turbo, you will need to swap your 0.63 turbine housing for a 0.82 to achieve your power goals.

If i can make 500whp with a small ass 50 trim turbo then you can do it with a gt3076r. a gt3076r should make 500whp on a full race manifold with out any problems. but this will not happen on pump gas. you can expect to make about 400whp Plus or minus 50whp on pump gas. On race gas or e85 can you make out the turbo at 500+whp no problem.

the .50ar compressure cover is not really that big a deal. if you dont like it you can just buy the standard .60 cover for a few hundred bucks. but most of the spool and power caractoristics of a turbo is dictictated by the size of the turbine housing and not the compressur housing

i have a ramhorn manifold, with a 6262 ball bearing, i have 501 whp at 16 psi, but i have meth, my tuner said just with timng i can go to 530whp at 16 psi but i doesnt give to much timing to keep it safe

500 whp s2000 is f@#kng awsome to drive but i want to boost it to 550 whp !
