Default Vibrant Metal core catalytic converter

Is anyone using the Vibrant 2.5" metal core cat?

"300 cell per Sq. Inch catalyst flows at 578 CFM, up to 40% better than a typical ceramic core converter."

How well do they flow compared to stock cat? Our OEM cat is metal core already, so the ceramic comparison doesn't mean anything.
How loud are they? Also how well do they hold up?

Im trying to find a happy medium between loudness & performance. My exhaust is an OEM chopped after the resonator w/ 2.5" pipe running to a single 2.5" Magnaflow muffler.
I was going to buy a $50 Ebay test pipe, cut out the middle & weld the Vibrant cat onto it.

Vibrant is good stuff, I wouldn't hesitate to do it. Only problem is most likely universal fitting and welding it and crap would be a little bit of a PITA rather than just doing a bolt up. I had a header on by them when I had my 07 SI, made good power. Customer service is really good too.

Yeah my friend is a welder for a custom header/exhaust company, so its just a matter of me giving him the parts one morning & picking up at night.
