Thumbs up Vortech blower on the way out?

Well my vortech supercharger has always made a pulsating grinding kind of noise which seems to be pretty normal. I think recently it has gotten louder and now with ticking going on as well.

I checked for shaft play a couple of weeks ago and was none. I will have to check again and pull the AC off and see if there is any oil going into there but haven't had a chance yet.
I am supposed to be tuned on the 27th of December. If it is on it's way out but will still work just maybe spitting a little oil out would it be bad to still get tuned like that and then afterwards pull it off and send it out to be rebuilt? I will be going for 12 lbs in the spring anyways so maybe after the rebuild will have a clutch ready to go in to do then and get retuned.

Let me know what it sounds like to you guys.

yeah you do NOT want oil in the combustion chamber. check it first, if it's leaking postpone the date.

It is leaking slightly I guess. Checked it out today. 0 shaft play side to side or in and out. There was a little bit of oil residue on the outlet of the supercharger however. Not a lot but could rub some off with my finger.
Where is the best place for rebuilds these days? I am not going to send it to superchargerrebuilds.com or whatever that is as they screwed a local over who sent them one to be rebuilt!

It very well could be an idler pulley. When they go bad they do make quite a bit of noise, and vibration.

I had to replace mine; local Advance Auto had them in stock (GM part I think).

Didn't really make any clicking noises when I started it up today so maybe only happens after driving for a while idk.
There was some oil leaking though. Pulled the AC off and stuck finger inside outlet of sc and was oil residue in there.

Are you running a catch can? Does it only make the noise when warm (hot starts)?

I'm not running a catch can. I have a Supra PCV inline with the pcv valve and then have the other hole off the valve cover removed and just have a mini breather filter there.

Yup mine made that noise back in October. I bought the Vortech SCi V3 new from them back on Dec 2009 and on October 2010 it started making the same noise as in your video. Very loud and a lot of vibrations. I had to send mine back to the factory under warranty and they had to replace the charger. I have the paper work at home that told me what was broken. Let me get it and I'll post it so you'll have an idea on where the problem is. I though mine was the idler pulley but it was something internal in the supercharger.

I don't notice any vibrations or anything. Just like a ticking sound. Has always made the grinding noise which seems to be normal.
Hopefully is nothing too bad. Would like to be able to get some more driving out of it before I send it out to be rebuilt at the very least.
