i just installed my s/c and after the install was complete, i started it up for the first time and the s/c is making a rattle noise. i think it might be the s/c but it could be tensioner pulley. the blower was just rebuilt by vortech. should i buy a new one? i bought the kit used but the blower was newly rebuilt never installed. i test drove my s and pull very good. i love the s/c


my s/c is v-2 is there a difference between the vq-2

 

Both SC's have a distinct rattle/gravelly noise at idle. Look for another SC'd owner and compare the noises. Chances are it's normal.

 

From macspeed via PM : That's the noise gravle,rattle noise. that's missed up that vortech and comptech can't make a better s/c. those two companys alone make millions every year off buyers.


All the centrifugal SC units have a distinct whine/gravelly/rattle at idle. You are hearing gear backlash in the internal step up gear drive inside the SC.

The ratttle goes away after increasing the engine speed off idle to eliminate the backlash.

The Comptech's Novi 1000 and Vortech V2 SQ are actually on the quiet side for a centrifugal SC.

Anyone who has heard a D1 Procharger, or T-trim Vortech can attest to that.
