Default Vortech Supercharged AP1..

I'm about to pick a used aftercooled vortech v2 kit. It's gonna come with the black box, fmu, and an apexi neo. I can't recall the pulley size right now but would I need an aem ems for this bolt on application? I was thinking a greddy emanage ultimate. Any ideas?

I did read that post but I only saw the one post that said "emanage doesn't work for our cars." I did have a buddy that had the blue emanage on his comptech'd S. I don't plan on going to crazy(....yet) and didn't want to spend the money if i didn't need it yet. I have been looking around for an ems but there is an emanage ultimate for $500 with harness on the marketplace.

These VT kits as well as comptech and SOS are meant to run right out of the box with no EMS if at the base boost pressure. You need to find out what size pulley you are running. All these kits at base level use a rising rate fuel pressure regulator with the stock injectors to deliver the added fuel. Some of these kits offer different accessory boxes that will pull some timing or lower vtec and do a little fuel shaping. Typically with a Centrifugal SC boost pressure under 10psi in most normal driving conditions does not need timing to be retarded I have found. The black box does retard a few degrees of timing but the other kits with the same base boost pressure do not. The other kits offer an adjustable rising rate fuel pressure regulator which is really a must as far as I’m concerned, but the VT kit does not. So there are some variables, but Boost amount is going to be dictating what you can safely get away with running as far as these components go. Your kit comes with a vafc, so your likely not running a lot of boost.

It is the standard 8 lb pulley and also comes with 650cc injectors. I'm guessing because of the injector size increase, it would be smart to get an engine management.

I concur for the most part but the Vortech kits do have an adjustable rising rate fuel pressure regulator with a big blue top.

Also, the Vortech black box pulls 3 degrees total timing at top end.

Or run the factory injectors and a rising rate fpr. I'd recommend the Comptech fpr which is for the ap2, it has a steeper fuel curve then the ap1 fpr and will work best for that boost. Take that Neo you already have and trim fuel where it’s not needed for a good fuel curve, most of which will be under vtec. If you have any experience street tuning, this is a very easy and basic set up to manage, the on the fly interface of the Vafc/neo is a nice benefit. Don't bother going through the hassles and expenditure of full engine management for just 8psi. Take it to 10 at least to justify it. Make it worth your wile.

Yea, its a good thing to have just to keep it safe. Incase you decide you wanna up the PSI on it in the future, etc. Might as well go all out and do it right, ya know?

I think I'm gonna let that emanage pass by and wait for an ems. I've got to get the blower rebuilt anyway. It has a slight leak in the rear seal. I'll let it run on the stock pulley for now until I buy the ems and upgrade the pulley.
