Running lean now that you have a LARGER pump? I agree with spectacle; that doesn't sound right. Is the sock fully submerged in the fuel?

Thought I should post some pics of the install of the E85 version of this pump. Hope you don't mind spectacle.

Hole I drilled so I could run a zip tie through and secure the plug. (This plug is specific to the e85 version of the 400.

Ready to go back in the tank. Notice you have to drill a small hole in the top to run your wires through.

I had no issues with the stock wires for a year until I did the relay upgrade because I was bored.

Keep in mind passing the wires through as you show is not recommended as the fuel can wick through the stranded copper wire in the insulation. While this may be a minimal amount of fuel, the concern would be the small amount of fuel turning in to vapor and igniting from spark of electrical components (such as the relay). A hermetically sealed connector (like what the factory carrier uses) is recommended.

I had this specific problem. No matter how I tried to conquer it....so I had to route it another way

anyone have an answer as to how to wire this hard wired outside the pump using all new wiring? I want it to be safe, and not allow fuel up the copper stands of the wire ... anyone ?

Depin the connector on top of the housing replace the wires with your new one. I'll post up the pictures I took here shortly...I keep forgetting to do it.
