im glad i read this before i started to build my head...venomous, any preference in valves, did you go oversize, i was going to go with alaniz .5 but since the springs didnt sit right with the retainers, i will be sure to go with supertech
I have oversize valves in my head. I did keep Alaniz valves which they are .5mm on the intake side and 1mm on the exhaust side. His valve fitment was not an issue and they fit as they should.

My head guy measures every crevice there is a possibly to make sure this motor doesn't blow apart at 9k.

Let me know if you need a local guy in Long Island to do your head. I would highly recommend him.

yeah, the head i just had done, same deal. used all ferrea. huge mess. their valves and retainers are .044" BIGGER in diameter than stock, well thats all you have between the stock retainer edge, and the rockers roller (.046" at the largest) so zero clearance exists. bullshit. well, after talking to ferrea tech, they explained that they sell all honda retainers the same size, and move the part numbers around. that had me bent. they said, "oh, if theres light in there, RUN IT" wtf!!!
so we ended up with all ferrea, and manley ti retainers. put me back closer to stock clearance. still tight, but i feel comfy, and the car has been running good so far. and 1mm oversize valves intake and exhaust. stage 2 port job, on a 2.5 stroker. should run REAL nice. hehehe. lates

That's been my biggest gripe about my Alaniz head job. The retainers...not even the weird stuff that was done to my head without any explaination or consulting/comfirmation to/by me. The retainers are just too small.

Saw the supertech combo and they are indeed a much better combo.
