There is no value, if anything I think it is detrimental.

I put one in but installed it before boring the block so as to ensure straight bores. Haven't built the engine yet though.

More stuff to go wrong. Don't bother.

they help keep the headgasket in one piece if something goes wrong (crappy tune, bad gas, overboost, etc)

but if everything is "right" they make no difference.

its key that they are fitted for your engine specifically and installed right. Also, you have to bore/hone the motor after the install as they will shift the bores slighly

With there being more availability of FRM compatible pistons, if you were going to build a 1000hp engine without sleeving the block (with closed deck sleeves) I would probably consider using them...but if you were technical enough and/or had the money to find out if that build would work, you would probably be telling all of us if they are useful or not at this point.

If you were building with aftermarket open deck sleeves, then again, they could probably be useful, but you would probably know more then the most of us and wouldn't have to ask

So I would say they probably aren't needed for what your doing, and if you do need them I would depend on the advise of real experienced engine builder to tell you if you need them or not.

If installed PROPERLY prior to machine work i think they do a good job . As long as there is plenty of openings for the water to flow .
