i think TJ has been eyeballing the used comptech kits (non-ac, ac, intercooled). a few of them have been selling in the two thousands range (less than three grand). i too have been watching the classifieds but i'm also awaiting the non-ac sos kit and what their intro pricing will be. there is however an ac vortech tuner kit (no fmu, injectors, pump but has the aftercooler) for $3800 though to counter sos non-ac kit...
right on the money. I didnt want to spend 4-5 k for the basic kit. I will get one with some miles on it , no big deal to me. My car has 90k now so no sense in puttin a very expensive kit on it.

You wont have tons of low end power with either a bigger turbo or SC. Centrifugal superchargers are the equivalent of a bigger turbo

Oh come on, the Greddy kit sounds like what would meet his goals. It's a great kit, although I would not buy it new. $5000 is TOO much money for the Greddy. I got a used kit for $2100 with no fuel pump. I wasn't going to do Greddy until I found that deal, but now that I have one, I love it. Perfect for getting about 300 whp for DD.
you're right, it'll work for what he wants now, but power is contagious and he'll want to upgrade sooner or later, that's when the Greddy is very limited.
