Brad Penn is not an option over here... Thinking of trying the Gulf oil.

 

this is going to sound Odd but im about to boost my s2k at 130k miles and I did the first oil change with the high mileage.. theres about 400 miles with the high mileage in the engine.. now i didnt have plans to Boost till my yamaha R6 got stolen.. used that insurance money to buy a turbo kit.. now im kinda worried that if i change the oil to 10w-40 I might start getting leaks.. due to the seals swelling up then being put back to normal oil and shriveling up.. so the main question is.. would high mileage Oil screw up my turbo kit? or should I switch the engine back to 10w-40 and risk messing up the seals?

 

I'm about to start running Brad Penn 10-30. I have been using Castrol edge Titanium in my car for the past couple of years and loved it. I'm only switching to Brad Penn because I'm going E-85 and need a higher TBN Rating. Plus it has a higher Zinc Content. Brad Penn really is the best bang for your buck oil IMO.

 

Fact, it's not the best (Amsoil) but for the price, the difference is negligible

Very true. I just said it was the best bang for your buck. Brad Penn is around $7-8 a quart and Amsoil is around $10-11 a quart. Amsoil has a higher TBN Rating, but Brad Penn actually has a higher Zinc Content. Zinc is what helps the oil stick to vital engine parts. I was watching my tuner clean out an oil pan consisting of Brad Penn to weld a bung for oil return. He was spraying Brake Parts Cleaner on the pan. Only the part of the stream that directly contacted the oil was washing off.

Do NOT use royal purple in a turboed engine.. Please, good for the N/A v8 guys but has no place in a boosted Honda motor
