Spool comparison for common turbos. I suggest a GT3071R as the smallest choice. It is significantly smaller than the 60 trim T3/T4, will spool much faster, and make similar power.

Quickest>>>Slowest
GT2871R>GT3071R>GT3076R>60trim T3/T4>60-1 T3/T4 or GT35R>larger T3/T4 combos

Steph Papadakis drifts a turbo AEM sponsored S2K using a GT2871R. Drifting requires ultraquick linear throttle response which is probably why he chose such a small turbo. However, his car is still putting out 400 hp at the wheels.

If your goal is quick throttle response at 7 to 8 psi, this is probably your best turbo choice IMHO. I believe there was a modded S2K comparo in Sport Compact Car a couple of months ago, and this S2K destroyed all the other bigger turboed S2K's by a significant margin. Guess it was because of the professional tuning.

Check out the specs here:

What?!?

There is a huge difference between the Ultimate Racing 60-1 and the Precision SC-61 Turbo - humungous!

The SC61 is much larger and rated for approximately 680hp while the 60-1 can consistantly make 400hp, yet maxes at roughly 500hp. Spooling is much different between the two also. I considered an SC61 for my application, as it is capable of making huge power numbers, however if I'm not mistaken it doesn't spool until 5500 while the 60-1 spools at 4000ish. Personally I went with a GT35R, however my goals are much different than that of the original poster.

Again, my numbers could be off a bit here and there. I am by no means a 'turbo expert'.
i have an sc61 with the inline kit, spools around 4k

I can only speak from experience, and I highly recommend the GT3071R. If the turbo spooled any quicker then I wouldn't want it for daily driving where i'm trying not to boost the car sometimes. When I want power, boost is almost instant when I hit the throttle, its awesome. There is virtually no lag when you are moving, I love it.
