I agree with an earlier poster, that (based on those pictures) there is nothing in the way of putting a soft top in that car. When folded, the top glass would rest on that bar, but if you covered it with foam, I don't think you'd have any other problems.

Obviously you'd have to replace the "plate" discussed above, with the plate that is welded to the soft top frame, but otherwise theres nothing else to get in the way, unless there are also changes to the CR in the roll hoop area.

I suspect all the "you can't put a soft top in a CR" talk came from the fact that the CR didn't come with one, therefore people just assumed it couldn't happen, and used that bracing as a reason (an excuse).

You would need to either do some custom wiring to your CR harness or you would need to replace it with another harness from a base S.

^ Correct. I was only addressing the physical limitations to the install.

Physical limitations aside .... Getting the electrical in there would most likely be a cluster fu**.

But I agree, anything is possible.

the hardtop catchers normally bolt to part of the softtop frame. people who gut the softop either fab a plate to replace the missing part of the softop frame, use a nut to secure the 10mm bolts (what i did), or just use 2 bolts instead of 3. just curious what they did for the cr. heres a picture of the area i'm talking about,

What is that black plate thing? My 07 had nothing like that and that picture I don't think is of a CR. I had to install my rear catchers in that area, and there was nothing like that there.

^^ sorry, I take that back. It's there on mine, it's just that it's mostly covered by another metal piece that covers up the soft top motors.

I'd trade you my soft top, etc for a tonneau cover.... but my soft top is pretty ****ed up and sitting outside by the shed in the grass.

Don't bother with the motors, wiring, etc. and just put it up like a classic roadster?

sweet. can you get better pics of how its mounted exactly???
I think the only part you would need to mount this brace is the entire roll hoop assembly. The brace connects to the bracket on the roll hoops, which I think are welded to the roll hoops, and since you wouldn't want to break apart the roll hoops, you would need to get the entire CR roll hoop assembly, I'm guessing.
