The Dragon vs Palomar Mtn
i see tons of video of the dragon and it seems very popular with south east coast S owners but we have a place here in socal that i think is more difficult to drive because of its mix of winding roads, long straights, countless hairpins and how high above sea level it is. we all call it S6 and S7, also known as Palomar Mountain.
S6: has a mixture of winding roads and long straights where you can top out 3rd and (80%) of 4th gear with tons of hairpin turns where your heel/toeing the S just to keep the power and balance exiting the turns. S6 going up is fun but nothing beats S6 on the way down. the amount of speed you feel going down on the straights driving at 90+ then jamming on (h/t) the brakes to stop at 40mph for the hairpin as you feel 1/2 a G in the chest because of the seat belt is priceless. when your done you soon appreciate the seats and tight cabin of the S because unless you were in a single seat open wheel car then you'd be sliding all over in the cabin. also, with S6 mis-judge a hairpin going downhill at 8/10th or more and its understeer city with blind traffic coming the other way.
S7: is full of winding roads long starights and fewer hairpins but its still very challenging because you can carry more speed in the corners and one mistake and off the cliff you go.
most bikers and enthusiast take S6 to S7 and S7 to S6 and some just S6 back and forth all day.

i'm surpised there are no S owners with videos in youtube or google video.

Its not the same. The closest thing we'd have to the dragon would either be the Malibu area OR Angeles Crest hwy. in San Bernardino area.
also, when you say its not the same are you referring to the distance? cause yes, the dragon is defintely longer.
i think all runs are different...it depends on what you like...some people like runs with fast, long sweepers and others like tight 15mph hairpins w/ various elavation changes....but i love the Palomar Run...SD YEAH!

Weaksauce. The dragon is unlike ANY road I have ever seen/been too, including the Alps in Europe....why? Guardrails, or lack of them. One mistake on the dragon, and your car is going off a cliff.

like i've said 90+ going downhill in 4th gear and slamming on the brakes for a hairpin turn with hardly any runoff areas will have your undivided attention. if you make a mistake and enter a hairpin to hot you will understeer the S into oncoming lane or off the mountain.
