Palomar is really fun on the way up.

Coming down is scary. I was "puckered" the whole time.

Yes, the views are magnificient.

the opposite for me, going down is the best. going up S6 you barely use the brakes even going into the multiple hairpins cause of the elevation. in the AP2 its 2nd 60%, 3rd 35%, 4th 5% of the time. going down S6 is where i'm grinning ear to ear in S, and its about 2nd 50%, 3rd 40%, 4th 10%. you can carry more speed because of the grade going down hill and if you drive it right the S will reward you tenfold. its a workout in its own and if you don't have the top down you will be sweating like mofo driving the S at 8-9/10ths.

people always forget S7 its also a great road with even better views. its nice because of the constant grade changes and medium speed switchbacks where it showcases the S chassis and suspension to the nth degree.

i have driven palomar several times, and make a point of driving it every time i am in the area.

i hit my much more local hywy2 at least once a month, if no more. also known as the angeles crest hywy, or anyone who rides it, the crest. when its open end to end its about 60 miles each way of some of the best driving i have seen anywhere.

for anyone who hasn't driven it i would highly suggest going on google map and looking it up. also zoom in and look at all of the side roads which are not all that long but just as amazing as the rest of it.

the best part about the crest is that they have repaved most of it so its a nice smooth ride too. also they give you plenty of passing lanes. plus durring the week there is absolutely no one up there.

the dragon is def on my to do list, but i never go east, just noth and south.

I love Palomar mountain. I moved here from Tampa, FL (worst warm place to own an S2000, possibly) and it's quite the change. I won't go above 7/10s as I don't want to harm any innocent motorists!

On the way over, where I always leave the RX-8:
