TRD has a point. I've driven Palomar a couple of times and have seen a fair share of wrecks. Incompetent drivers or a tough road is the question. But if you get there early enough, the best part if breaking through the valley's cloud line having the "ceiling" become a "floor", separating your playground in the sky.

We (So Cal) have PCH.

Game.

Set.

Match.
i'm pretty sure your talking about pch near northern cali below san fran and yes that's a blast to drive because of the winding roads and views but very few if any elevation changes. also, as long as you have a full tank of gas at the start of pch. last i was there i started with 1/2 a tank and they were charging $4.69 a gallon because there was nowhere you could get gas.

a couple of times? i have to do it once a month to get it out of my system.

i just took my friend at work who has a IS350 last sunday morning and he's already asking to go again this sunday. but the best time to go is the weekday when there's no family cars, bikes, sport bikes to be seen.

winters in the morning is a little scary epecially going down on S6. one time last year visibility was okay going up and i figured i'd take S7 to the end to eat breakfast and wait for the clouds to fully disappear for the drive back. the drive back was pea soup and i was driving 5-10mph with the hazzards on.

that looks like a nice road that I would enjoy driving, but having watched all the videos you posted, its just not as curvy as the dragon.

Also keep in mind the Dragon is not the only great road in the area either. Hellbender (28) is also awesome and a lot faster. It is like the road i see in your videos, complete with an elevation change.

Until you have driven the dragon you just don't know. It is as famous as it is for good reason...
