funny how 3-4 well guided posts stop 2.5 pages of hater-tastic comments...

Haters be hating.

If you take the time to look at the pictures:
-The carpet tray replaces the carpet and the stock floor mats go on top. No slick shoes issue there.
-Like Tan said the rear seat is not meant to be sat in. It is a delete.
My only issue is the high gloss finish, not my taste.
-The front seat is a light weight racing seat, comfort is not really a primary concern or priority.
My concern is, as a track seat are they FIA homologated?

Really sad to see the negativity for products that took a significant amount of effort and capital to design, regardless of peoples individual tastes.
it's not hating when you're simply pointing out that these are ricey cosmetic add ons disguised as lightweight track ready upgrades

-the carpet tray is superfluous, if one removes the carpet and is concerned about "slick shoes" then they'd use a floor mat on the floorpan not a floormat on top of a carbon fiber tray on top of the flooran. cosmetic add on.

-the rear seat delete is redundant if one cares enough about weight to remove the seatbelts and cushions why add the weight of a carbon fiber topping? cosmetic add on.

-"comfort is not really a concern in a light weight racing seat." why wouldn't it be?

- your concern:: is the track seat FIA homologated? i can answer that for you. NO.

i dont consider myself a hater really, but in this case, yea, i'm hating on a "weight reduction package" that gives you nothing but an untested/unsafe seat and some razzle dazzle carbon fiber dressup bits

so you'd say a GTR owner who wants to save weight should just gut the car and have ugly metal panels and wiring exposed? Kinda reminds me of the gutted ricer civics running around. Good call.

your post pretty much proves my point.

if a GTR owner cared about his car looking like a "gutted ricer civic" then these parts would be perfect for them. because they care about looks

my only criticism of these parts is what they claim to be. these aren't parts in some kind of race prep program. they're dress up parts to give the illusion that you're a hardcore track day tuner.

why are so many people ripping on pwjdm and this product in particular?

99% of people on s2ki mod their car for looks alone

the seat delete saves weight over stock doesn't it? so it's doing what it is intended to do, so what if you add 6-8 lbs of carbon after stripping out 50+?

what's wrong with saving weight but retaining some style/daily drivability?

and the reason the price might be "high" (although i don't think they've published a price) is probably because it costs a FORTUNE to develop and produce carbon parts to the level of quality that pwjdm does. not to mention, they're probably only going to sell a half a dozen of these and therefore they need to recoup the cost, it is a business after all.

the reason civic parts are "cheap" is because there are a million different products and manufacturers out there (and civic owners) buying the shit. s2000 parts are more expensive and limited. bmw parts even more expensive and limited. porsche parts, even more, ferrari even more........ the GTR market isn't HUGE like the civic's for example

the end

These products probably doesn't make sense to the S2ki kiddies because they're used to appearance modifications which degrade performance.

"Add lightness..."

The GTR competes with cars that cost 3 and 4 times as much. Seems to me that leaves plenty of room in the budget to make it even more potent in the best way possible, the only way that simultaneously helps acceleration braking and cornering. That it also makes an already impressive car a one-of-a-kind is a bonus.

I think we've over loaded this thread with the word hater. It's pretty much the only term people can come up with when someone else doesn't agree or like the same thing as them. This thread is overly derailed at this point.

wow you guys are really stupid.

Whats the point is doing weight reduction on an already heavy car? WTF is that a serious question? WOW. the IQ of s2ki has hit rock bottom.

THE POINT IS to make the car lighter without looking like a stripped race car. OBVIOUSLY.

Interestingly enough not everyone wants to strip the shit out of their car to save weight. If a GTR owner wants to save a shitload of weight out of his trackday/street GTR and not have his GTR look like a your typical stripped civic ricer then this interior delete package is genius.

Carpet is heavy, seats are heavy as are the rear restraint systems etc. IF it wasnt obvious that the rear seat delete is not for passengers it should be obvious now that PWJDM pointed out the seat belts have been removed.

I remember i went through great lengths to do weight reduction on my last car, but i didnt want my car looking like a stripped POS either. I made a CF false floor which replaced the rear seats and extended all the way to the trunk. It looked great and saved me alot of weight. I lost a total of 300lbs from the car with various weight reduction mods and my car still looked good.

Seats without padding dont have to be automatically uncomfortable. I have sat in plenty of plastic molded chairs that suited my body type just fine and were just as comfortable as a chair with padding.
The tiny weight differences you save by spending tens of thousands of dollars are easily outweighed by a little difference in driving skill, or even a little diet?

Oh wait, there's no driving skill involved in driving GTR.
