Yes to both.

With the AP2 ballast, the headlights are plug'n play.

Alpine offers a remote steering adapter (called KCE-865) so yes, the dash controls are still working.
-Switch source (Mode)
-skip title/FFW (CH)
-Mute (MUTE)
-Vol (Vol)
Everything works just plain perfect and without any delay.
No loss in functionality at all but fullspeed ipod connection and awesome Alpine sound as addition over oem.

thanks..and this remote, do you just plug it in with the wire harness? i guess what im asking is, is like sandwhiched in between the stock harness and the alpine harness? i really want my dash controls to still work..im more like you, just want simple but yet close to or factory look

correct, you simply have to plug it between oem harness and Alpine HU. 2 clicks and you're done. Nearly every Alpine HU supports OEM remote.

^how much did you pay for that HU including the remote? and what speakers would you suggest without having to make a set of custom adapters?

Nice parts you got there so I can just contact alpine and get that remote so my left buttons can work I got the same hu but my buttons don't work let me know thanks or where all can I get that remote
