Mid 70's BMW 2002 restoration project...

17 Track Day!!!
Alright, sorry for the lag in updates, I've been busy. After mounting the front air dam, I figured I might as well track the car once before repairing the air dam. That way, if I tear it up at the track it wouldn't break my heart quite as much to have to repaint it... again.
I also got a good deal on some RS Watanabe's. I know it's going to get a lot of Ronald McDonald comments, but they're pretty rare, and that's the only set I could find in the correct size/offset. They were previously on a Miata, and I had to fly them out from Virginia. Rest assured... they will be getting refinished as well, but much like the air dam- I'll do it AFTER the track day.
(I contemplated even posting this image since the red and yellow and titanium is such an eyesore... but it IS a progress thread, so... just know it'll get better.)
If you're wondering, the F20 setup worked wonderfully on the track, and the car is quite neutral, thanks to the 245 Advan's on the back. (205 up front). The Watanabe's are 15's, so they're quite light. I think I caught quite a few STi's and EVO's off guard when we hit the straight and they naturally moved to the outside expecting to pass, only to be treated to 9000 RPM of 2.0L Honda fury through a straight pipe
.No off track excursions, thank goodness.

18 Almost restored to street trim...
I got the front air dam back from the body shop, and they were able to get rid of all the scratches and damage from a season of track abuse and perfectly match the Titanium paint on the lower half of the body. Still waiting on my low-profile front bumper, so for now she's bumperless.
The ketchup red Watanabe's are now at the shop where the paint is being removed, and they are being re-anodized in a color that should work nicely with the theme that's going already.
In the meanwhile I needed something to roll on and I didn't want to go back on the stockers.
A buddy of mine has an old e30 cup car awaiting a motor, so I borrowed his wheels. Except... they're BBS RS style, with centerlock hubs... so, I had to borrow much more than I wanted and it ended up taking a good part of an afternoon to swap out the brakes (huge for this car) and rotors and hubs... just so I can roll on some really expensive rims until mine get back. These BBS are 16", so the car is actually sitting a bit higher than it will on the street. I raised the car cause the last thing I want to do is chew my fenders up, or his wheels.
One more step away from finished street trim I think. I'm excited.
