Dude I didn't know you were into 2002s... you should come see my '73 Roundie complete with Getrag 5 speed conversion.

15 Dropped with driving lights
Okay, so restored back to OEM, and I think I left her stock for about 10 minutes. Swapped out the springs for some coil overs and dropped her down pretty conservatively, probably about 1" on the steel stockers. Maybe I'll drop it more on some more aggressive wheels in due time.
Got rid of those gawd-awful 1980's fog lights that came with the car, and bolted up some driving lights for those late night canyon runs. Period correct styling, but modern wiring. The best of both worlds.
Attached a new front air dam that was sprayed up with the car, also conservative. I think it's about 1.5" lower than stock, but still retains that OE cleanliness. It's fiberglass though, don't know how long it'll last. Another reason to not slam the car for now.

16 Air dam fitting
Well, it's not all bad luck when working on these cars I guess. My mechanic at the local shop that specializes in 2002's called me up today.
"You'll never guess what I found."
Turns out one of his clients is a retired aeronautical engineer who campaigns his yellow 2002 in a vintage race series. They were in the process of upgrading the front air dam for better airflow, and no longer needed last season's piece. He gave it and a bunch of other "used" defunct parts to the shop for free, who in turn, passed it along to me.
So here it is being test fit. I had to remove the bumper and driving lights (again!) for the fitting, but I think I'll slap them back on afterwards. We'll see. My buddy says all the race 2002's ditch the bumper since it's useless in crashes anyway. However, I like the brightwork of a bumper on a street car, so I'm probably gonna put it back.
Overall the air dam is in pretty good shape. The piece is urethane, so it flexes and hasn't cracked. Needs a bit of work here and there, but otherwise it fits pretty well, and should do nicely on my street car.
