isn't that an ap2?
No, what it is, is that in japan they only made the ap1(f20) motor for the s2000, even now(08) it has the f20c. They find the f20 to be the better motor for them. This also goes on in Europe and pretty much everywhere beside US. It is still a ap2 chassis, just has the ap1 motor.

Japan offers the 2.2 motor now, I'm not sure if it is standard or an option but the 2.2 is available beyond the U.S.

The car is still an AP2 not an AP1 regardless.

Correct, the vin will still identify an S2000 from Japan as an AP1 up until an 06 I believe. 06 is the year that everyone started getting the F22C. It's funny that after all the years the Japanese were alwasy holding out on giving the U.S. the good stuff, and with the S2000 we got the F22C (the better motor) before they did.

Nice. Are red badges/center caps OEM in Japan? They look good on black.
