The 3M vinyl (CA-421) finally got delivered today, and I applied it immediately to my AP1 centerconsole

This is what I made of it (click on image for full size):

(don't mind the enormous contrast between the silver inlays and the rest, it's the result of silver metallic paint+flash)

It was quite a lot of work though, about 2 hours I guess... The 3M vinyl does stretch a couple of mm's, but on smaller corners it becomes quite difficult. I HAD to split a part near the handbrake because of the stretching around the upper corners, but the edge is very hard to spot

If you have enough time to waste and you like the CF-finish as I and RL1924 do, I could recommend doing it also on the AP1. You might even come up with some new swearing words in the process

Cheers!

That looks great RL1924!

How about doing the radio door as well? Unless of course you want to replace the radio door with one from the CR, as I did.

I was thinking about doing the door as well, but I didn't have enough, and my door is 99% of the time open, Another problem would be with wrapping it you would see it when its open, I would have to see if the actual "silver" part of my door is able to come off so can wrap it around then put it back together. Its REALLY hard to cut the stuff perfectly straight on a seam to not look like ass.

You trying to do it like I did? Take the whole console apart get it so your only working with the silver parts, and use a heat gun and wrap it right around the parts and put it back together. So you know the sliding door you can take just the silver part off

you know the spring that automatically opens the door broke. I tried to take it all apart with no luck. looked like some parts were glued or some.

What you need to do is get the spring section off then you slide the door open and look underneath, There are 3-4 tiny screws take off the silver part then the black part will slide back inside
