The 3M vinyl (CA-421) finally got delivered today, and I applied it immediately to my AP1 centerconsole

This is what I made of it (click on image for full size):

(don't mind the enormous contrast between the silver inlays and the rest, it's the result of silver metallic paint+flash)

It was quite a lot of work though, about 2 hours I guess... The 3M vinyl does stretch a couple of mm's, but on smaller corners it becomes quite difficult. I HAD to split a part near the handbrake because of the stretching around the upper corners, but the edge is very hard to spot

If you have enough time to waste and you like the CF-finish as I and RL1924 do, I could recommend doing it also on the AP1. You might even come up with some new swearing words in the process

Cheers!
Bad ass Dude

The 3M stuff is really thin and if applied correctly should slide just fine. Though, not as smooth as it use to be it still slides back and pulls without any difficulties.
Actually for mine it slides fast till half way - then it slows down a tad bit for the final half.

I have had mine done for a month now and still I can smell the "new car" effect that the 3M vinyl odor gives off..... a neat trick if your prepping your car to sell.

Decided to recycle (previously did my mirrors but didn't like it so removed), this 3M stuff is quite versatile, just reapplied it to the door sills. Hot hair dryer restored it instantly. btw it comes off in seconds and leaves no residue.
