I think I'm going to do a limited edition of 13 cars, each one customized to Owner's car. Final product is a PDF, which the owner may print or modify as desired. I know the art will be stolen (already has actually), so my idea is to sell the artwork directly to the buyer, and he can do whatever he wants to it. If he/she wants a sig file, that can be done easily. If they want a poster, well they can take it to a large-format printer. It's resolution independent, so no problems there. The buyer can chase down theft, but owners need never post it if they don't want to. I don't have the heart to see my work everywhere by theives.

I'd still have 2-4 hours in the wheels, brakes, and body kit for every buyer. Cost is an big question, but I'm thinking $50 each is would be worthwhile for me, but still low enough for even a broke but passionate S2000 lover. I'm sure it would take some time to go back and forth with the buyer to get it exactly right, so that would be part of the service.

Posted samples have been pulled for watermarking. Will be back up tonight.

What's puzzling most to me is the people who obviously have the skills to piece together a composite of someone else's work in photoshop, yet are unwilling to take the time and effort to create something new and original on their own .
Well, I can't speak for the people who steal sigs (which is just downright deplorable) - but I can tell you why I got you to make me a sig despite being more than capable of making my own.

I too am in the design industry. By day I manage a large prepress dept for a commercial offset printer; outside of work hours I am too busy doing freelance work for my own client base.

Sadly, between that and life I dont have the time anymore to actually sit down and play around in CS2/Quark/whatever as much as id love to.

I get numerous PS requests via PM and as much as id love to help - i dont do much for free nowadays! (at least computer wise that is)

I do however applaud both you guys for your skills. Having been in the industry for 15 years myself I recognize talent when I see it

Thanks for the kind words. I work in printing/prepress as well.
For this project, I had to definately make the time to do it (about 30 hours now), and I definately put off some things to do it. I think that's one of the things that make it rewarding: I did this for myself. When you feel passionate about something (the S2K really brings that out, huh?), you find yourself doing silly things like detailing the car or drawing it for hours on end.

Images reposted with watermarks, as some small attempt to deter theft for the sake of future buyers.

I'm also open to doing full custom work, 1-off illustrations. I couldn't really handle more than about 1 per month though.

yep, its a small world!

Started out a a graphic designer, then to creative director, then left and started my own studio/commercial print works. I sold up after 5 years and moved to the US where im now happily an employee and dont have the stress of ownership anymore!

Ha! I wasn't saying that just because you didn't make it yourself doesn't mean you're not capable of it . I'm sure there are TONS of people on here who know Illustrator MUCH better than I do (Seriously), and I still consider myself an amateur with the program.

I was just talking about the people who are skilled enough to "piece together" a composite of stolen signatures. Obviously they're not totally graphically illiterate, so why not do something original instead of stealing?

Know what I'm sayin? Don't want you to think I meant it in a negative way to anyone whose car I DID draw.
