Pics of why I got my Stook
Hmmmm....... hard to compare.
I mean, the M Coupe has SO much torque, the low-end acceleration feels almost like a motorcycle. The 2001, with 315 hp, does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds STOCK. Enough said. Handling is about equal, although the M is really loose in the back end due to the power/weight ratio (causing random wrecks, ahem).
As far as looks are concerned.... I think the Stook is definitely a prettier car (especially when decked out with 17" or 18" wheels and ground effects). Nevertheless, the M is totally unique. I still can't help but gawk jealously when I see one. And forget about the interior. The red/black leather combo that I had in mine was to die for. No comparison there.

Yeah, that definitely looks like a painful accident ... but that doesn't mean that the S2000 would have faired any better. The M coupe is legendary for its incredibly stiff chassis as well. I saw pictures of an M coupe that was battered after an accident at a track. In a couple of weeks, the body was straightened out , the car repaired, and run again for the next race. However, in the process, the frame machine bent while trying to pull the chassis into its original form.
No offense, but if you think that the S2000 is more survivable than the M coupe, I'd love to see more factual data instead of just a single data point.

For the record, I never compared the S2k to the BMW in terms of accident survivability. The M Couple is INCREDIBLY tough. So you know just HOW tough, here's a little bit of detail on my accident:
I was travelling 80 mph down a 4 lane street, shifted into the left lane to pass a van. Upon changing lanes, I saw there were people working in the road in that lane, and swerved back to try to avoid them, lost control, spun sideways, and started sliding at an angle across the 4 lanes to the right. Finally, I got my car to straighten out, but too late - I had already jumped the curb, and by the time i got straight, I hit a palm tree head on. I estimate my velocity at the time of impact to have been around 50 mph. I was knocked out by the force of the airbag hitting me. The crash actually cut the tree in two (the trunk was about 18" in diameter). Then, my car continued to spin, and hit a second palm tree on the side, and got wrapped around it.
The only injury I sustained in the accident was an abrasion to my elbow from the airbag.
I highly doubt I would even be telling the story had it happened in an S2000. But then, I don't think I would have had the accident at all - the M Coupe (as I said in a previous post) is VERY loose in the rear end.
Sooooo, there ya have it !!
