Default Project LM Refinish

I guess I'll start a thread on refinishing my LMs and taking them apart etc. One of my friends noted that I should probably link the banner in my sig to a thread, so here is where it will be once I get more photos and the ball rolling more.

So I got the first wheel clean... finally.

Inside hoop, there are some chips from just driving on the inside but they came
out pretty decent.

Horrible lighting for pics of the lip

I am getting some Adams for the lip to help bling it out some more.

Where the face mounts where it looks like chipping is going on, that's the clear
and unless I strip it off there is no more cleaning to make it look better at this point.
At least the face mounts on top of it so it won't ever show.

What is the process to put them back together? I'm sure you have to torque them down in multiple stages in a criss-cross pattern, but even then, I'd be scared to drive on them.

I'm sure you know more than I do, so best of luck to you! Those are some nice wheels.

Somebody had to put them together, so I figured I can take them apart.

I am doing just an overall cleaning of the lips and inner surfaces while taking the faces to get powdercoated something. I had a thread in late fall with some photoshops of what options I was thinking of going. I have pretty much nailed down something in the gunmetal/black chrome color. Not sure exactly until I get to the shop and look at colors.

I didn't choose the following for the following reasons:

A. Black - looks good up close, from a distance with mesh wheels they just loose their character and you can't tell what they are, plus you can buy the LM's in black.

B. Gold - A classic combo, yet again you can buy them in gold so I wanted to do something that wasn't something you will see an LM in very often.

C. Polish - It's so close to the color they are now that it wouldn't be enough of a change for me to justify doing that.

D. - Any dumb obnoxious red/blue/etc. to me is not the character of the LM, nor my taste or car. I am keeping it clean and simple.
