Removed windshield tape today
I didn't notice the tape much either until I saw this thread and took a closer look at it later. What is the purpose of the tape? To blend with the dark softop?
I'm going to get an OEM hardtop so I might remove the tape too.

My first S2000 was Berlina Black and of course had no tape but with my new Sebring, I thought about it for awhile and refrained from taking the tape off because I knew it would cost more to replace it incase there were any "issues" under the tape.

Then, one night while I washed her, I started to pull the tape and after a few minutes, it was all gone.
I like it without the tape but it really is something that noone can ever tell.
Since that time, I also had my Coastal Metal Grills powdercoated black.
Before. . .

After. . .

Well, that's the second S2k that's been shown with and without the windshield tape. One Suzuka blue and one Silver. It looks to me like the dealers aren't removing the protective appliques that are applyed at the factory to protect the finish. I suppose it's not a big deal in the long run but it kind of makes me wonder what else they half arsed in the new car make ready process? Either way, in both cases, I personally think it looks better without the tape than with.
