All I'll say is that if you're truly concerned with the functionality of your roll cage as a safety device... you probably won't be buying one with "looks" and "ability to use the soft top" as your two primary criteria.
I agree 100%.

Your best bet IMO would be to buy a ROLL BAR that would pass tech for a lapping day or maybe even a track event. Im sure there have to be some brands out there. Either way they would provide more protection then that "cage" ever would. It bends around the dash for goodness sake.

If you want more information about cages go into the racing forum on here ( not street ecounters lol) they have tons of good info in there and im sure they have their own thoughts on that cage.

He was not calling you two posers, he was just hinting at the fact that have a "cage" for the soul purpose of showing off is kinda weird...

Yep.. but do a search, rather than posting questions. This has already been covered in that forum and those guys aren't particularly tactful when pointing that out.

I don't know why but to me a bolt in cage that bolts together doesn't seem very safe to me.
You do know that are STOCK roll hoops are "bolted" in right?

I believe he was referring to the bars being bolted together, not that they bolted to the car.

I would suggest (as others have) that if safety and track-time is your concern then definitely look for a roll bar. There are a number that work well with the hard top. I personally have the Hard Dog and love it:

Going with a setup like that will open up other track options for you too as the Cusco isn't going to cut the mustard for a number of clubs (it will pass tech in some though).

Looks for who ?

Most people who know anything about cars and tracking them will look at that and shake their heads. I would much rather impress someone in the know then a normal passer by.

Best of luck though im sure a lot of people will give it props.

That is exactly what might happen. Some chick on a cell phone rear ends your car at a traffic light at 25 mph. Instead of getting out of the car to get her insurance, you are sent to the ER and will remain in persistent vegetative state for the rest of your life. Or at least until your parents are forced to pull the plug on you. Really cool eh?
Errr could you explain how that is medically possible for a rear end collision?
I am assuming you r not using some crappy chinese seat replacement along with the cage

You never know, if you look on the first page you can see how the bar goes right next to the dash attempting to follow the A pillar which is practically right in front of your face. I already sorta of explained the baseball bat analogy, so just think of it as that. A baseball bat going full force into your face, a vegetated state seems possible.

I think you will have to worry about the force of the airbag rather than the front bar. 6 points roll cage is way over the top and dangerous for the street during a side collision.

I can't see how a uncover 4 points cage cause any extra harm on the street.

The safety issue that we're talking about is the 6pt cage, it's useless for the street and can potentially cause more harm and that defeats the purpose of having a cage. Those with aftermarket wheels will have to worry about the bar and depending on how hard a rear end bump might be, the airbag might not engage but your face might still fly into the bar.
