Stretched tires
I've tracked with 225/45/17 on 9 inch wheels and like it a lot better than 225 on a 8 inch wheel due to the stretch. A small stretch like that stiffens the sidewall a bit more giving you a more "crisp" turn in, but 225 on a 9 inch is about the limit for me.

^ On that setup, it is a 245/40/17 yokohama sdrive on a 9.5 inch wheel. Not much stretch in the sidewall at all, but the tread width is stretched from the end of sidewall to the top of the tread.
If it were something like a Falken FK452, it would stretch a lot more than this.
