Highrpmek chill out. This is about knock off, Not handling. No matter what a thread is about, you always have to push the PLAY button on your handling-record.
I was waiting for you to post this thread up.. I have owned 3 "style" hoods in the past so heres my observation.
Jakub,
Your hood in the picture above actually looks better (and fits better) than all 3 "style" hoods I bought over the years, plus you painted it. From the pictures I cant tell the difference between the TS "style" or TS "authentic", if painted. Of course I can tell if they are not painted but having talked to you via PM, you justified to me with a good explanation why you went the "style" route. Your hood basically does the same job (as it was intended to do) that an authentic CF hood would do.
But for those of us that did not paint the Fiber Image and Seibon "style" hoods, they faded with time and Sun exposure or at least my 3 did in Hawaii. Then I switched over to the Japan aftermarket hoods. So far, no fading.
Your car reminds me of an old member Hobbyholic. Do you remember his black S2k with the painted TS hood? Looked clean.
Keep them coming..
I have to agree that an unpainted Mugen style hood from Seibon looks terrible. Saw it for the first time last week on a berlina with C-West body kit with a real J's old style hood next to it and it's just plain terrible. I saw just a small piece of my own unpainted hood when I opened the box, it was delivered by DHL directly to the body shop. If I would have a yellow car and was keeping it unpainted, I would buy the real deal I guess. A real JDM hood is too "bright" to flow well with a black car.
So my conclusion:
Want to show off CF, better get the real deal (if you have the money, otherwise it's a no-brainer)
Want to save money and looking for functionality, get a knock off but better paint it.
Here is my favorite knock off, since I don't think an authentic part even exists:
I bought this over the weekend on a group buy don't know who makes it and don't really care shit for $65. could'nt pass up that deal iv' seen some of these go for as high as $200. i know it's not a Mugen

What pisses me off is when people buy a car that was once worth $30k and try to justify it's worth when it's 5 years old. It also pisses me off that many S2000 owners don't realize that the stock wheels are a higher quality piece than ADR wheels, it also pisses me off that many S2000 owners are not aware how good their stock suspension is, and make the car handle worse with cheap springs, shocks, or c/o's (most Teins, Buddy Clubs, Megans, etc. etc.). There's very little in terms of suspension out there for under $2k that is better than the stock suspension. Because I'm 21, am on my 2nd S2000, have owned and paid (ins. and loan) for my 1st and 2nd S2000 by my self, know I'm not going to do anything that will hurt my car's performance because I worked so hard to get it and that's what I love about it.
That said, I'm impressed by all the "style" hoods fitments, and I too can't justify the price of the authentic hoods. Does anyone know if the MG or TS style hoods clear the J's or Mugen intakes, I've heard mixed answers on this question b4, I think this would be a good thread to set it straight.
do a little more research on coilovers the JIC FLT-A2 are probably the best bang for the the buck under 2Gs
