Actually VWs reliability has improved tremendously in the past few years. I know a few people with the new GTI and the car is incredible.

Also, the DSG transmission is actually better than manual. It's not like any other SMG or similar transmission. It actually has two clutches (1 for 1,3,5 gear and the other for 2,4,6). So the clutch is ready to shift as soon as you shift. It's proven to be faster than manual by a good amount.
I have to agree and disagree on this. Yes, over the past few years VW has improved on reliability, but you still have those same common issues "won't come out of park, electrically problems, or ECU (VW terms MFI) problems, etc. Although these issues occur more on the Passat's, Jetta's and Touareg.

The reason I know this, I work for the company that does their roadside assistance for VW/Audi. However, maybe my opinion is one sided because I work for such a company; but I still wouldn't buy a VW, period. An Audi, Yes!

Sorry about the long post, I was just babbling

Nice

Props to VW for making such a beast, that is putting together the collective resources of VAG to build something nobody else could.

Oh, and I think it looks brilliant! They did a great job giving the basic Rabbit shape enough supercar detailing that it does indeed look very special.

It's a mid-engine design.
