It Actually is going into production...My next door nieghbor is a master tech for VDubs here in Jersey....He told me it will be for sale in the states as a 2009 model for 2008...The car is a beast for sure...0 to 60 in about 3.4 seconds....

Also, the DSG transmission is actually better than manual. It's not like any other SMG or similar transmission. It actually has two clutches (1 for 1,3,5 gear and the other for 2,4,6). So the clutch is ready to shift as soon as you shift. It's proven to be faster than manual by a good amount.

The reason I know this, I work for the company that does their roadside assistance for VW/Audi. However, maybe my opinion is one sided because I work for such a company; but I still wouldn't buy a VW, period. An Audi, Yes!

Props to VW for making such a beast, that is putting together the collective resources of VAG to build something nobody else could.
Oh, and I think it looks brilliant! They did a great job giving the basic Rabbit shape enough supercar detailing that it does indeed look very special.
