im sorry but in going to have to disagree...
glass from factory comes in two types, tempered and laminated. All current cars have their windshields laminated for safety, that is why its so hard to break a windshield. You're door glass usually comes tempered. this makes the glass more easy to break... and when it does break it breaks in to small little round pieces.
Im glad you are an expert! But if you understood how glass works the lamiante does not stop flying objects by itself. I have had deer antlers come thru the windshield of a van I was in.

You ask me how I know, 2 reasons I have had the actual experience of objects coming thru and I also installed auto glass for 3 years so I have to say I am pretty versed in how glass works.

But hey you are the expert, right?

What do you mean by "behind" the tint film?

Yea i meant the stickers applied to the glass, and the tint film applied OVER the stickers so that they dont look tinted. The down side is that I have to get it re-done every year when the stickers expire because Texas, I believe, is the only state that requires a window sticker for registration AND inspection. The new TX registration stickers are sooo LAME!! They have a huge clear sticker that goes over a piece of paper, so you would'nt be able to cut out the tint film where the stickers are because it would be way too noticeable!

Teawins21 & S2KinVA just an FYI your both right and wrong at the
same time.

First the laminate that is in the windshield already blocks like 90%
ultraviolet radiation which most people don't know.

Cars come in Tempered glass for our protection not so it will break
easier. tempered glass is actually stronger the regular glass. Also its
safer because when it breaks it breaks into small pieces rather then
a large shard that could take your arm off. This is also the reason why
your patio door glass is tempered or windows over bath tubs, and
windows that are lower then 18-20" depending on the building codes.

Also its Tempered Laminate not one or the other. This is one step above
Tempered glass again for safety. This way if it does break it wont harm
you. That is why its used for the windshield because even though it breaks
in small pieces with enough velocity it would still harm you. This is also the reason
why the sky lights in your house has Tempered Laminate just imagine
all those small pieces of glass falling from above as your sitting on the couch.

Lastly even with the windshield tinted you can still have objects come completely
through. Like the deer antlers that you mentioned because it will most likely pierce
through the tint and Laminate. Its basically the same material. There isn't any way
to stop that unless you use something other then glass.

I put a link for you guys if you want to read about it.

Tinting every year is way too expensive, and not worth it to me. I think I'll just pick a low enough tint that it hopefully won't get busted.
