How would it stay on? I thought part of the mounting process of the hardtop was attatching it to the soft top latches?

Not for me. But a thumbs up for sure if you can pull it off.

Well to start IMHO the Spoon top doesn't look good on too many S2k's. With that said it won't look much better with the top cut out of it.
Why I'd want a targa top on my convertible just doesn't make much sense to me. If you live in climates where a convertible is common instant rain stroms aren't a problem. If you do live in places where rain is an issue plan ahead.
I wonder if people with covertible Porsche's think about having a targa top on their convertible?
God forbid you actually got wet with the top down.
Some people want it all I guess.
If you got caught top down in rain you'd pull over and put the targa or two pieces back in...then drive away
Just like C6 guys or supra guys or ... Old firebird/camero guys with t-tops
Yeah but I bought a convertible.. not a t-top car. I knew what I was getting when I bought it.
I think it will work for some.
I'm like a light switch with no dimmer... either on or off.
Can't see buying a top, cutting a hole in it for something that gives me half (or less) of what I want in total.

Looks nice. But who's the user that owns the car? I would like to see some more pics

didn't really think about this, but i've read somewhere (other than the thread i'm providing you with) said they found a way to keep the soft top. i tried looking for it again, but i can't find it. so this was all i can find. sorry for the lack of details

True it does. It also mounts in the middle so maybe it could be rigged to mount some how in the rear.
Then the targa piece/s would mount to the latches and then the middle of the hardtop
