2004 Radio door problem

On the left side of the door assembly there is a round extension that sticks out. Put the circular end of the spring over that extenstion. In your pic the right pointing side of the spring will fit into the groove on the door assembly. This end will point up and rest against the door assembly.The other side of the spring points down. You have to compress the spring with your fingers to get it to fit into the groove. When the door is closed the spring compresses against the door and the housing. When you open the door the spring expands and pushes the door away from the assembly.

bumping this thread from the past trying to get some help.

I have the same exact problem. I took out my radio door but when I put the springs back in I must of did something wrong because it only opens if I give it a nudge.
