Fixing gap in headrests, special glue needed?
Okay well I just picked up another ap2 this week and noticed once I got it home that the headrests were splitting due to old adhesive losing its grip. If the weather clears up today I am planning on taking them apart to remove all the excess crap putty stuff and am going to try basic superglue for now. Just wanted some input as to what people have used for this problem, since I stopped by Honda and they had no idea if they had any special glue for it since they came "assembled" from the factory according to them. If there is a special adhesive I should use please let me know before I decide to superglue it
your headrest shouldnt be splitting and have glue......im going to assume youre talking about the roll hoop covers. These pieces were never glued together from the factory. people done know how to work on these cars and when doing a softtop replacement they usually break them apart. they then realise they Fd up and try to glue it back together which if you read on here theres plenty of people with the same problem.
There is no way to get them to hold back together unless you melt them together from the inside which is a bit*h to do. sorry you got screwed but you need new roll hoops

Thanks for the reply, I have the passenger one pressed back together quite nicely using clamps and some plastic weld, drivers has been more difficult. I wanted to get speakers for inside them anyway so I guess it isn't too big of a deal they need to be replaced. For future reference though I would assume that when they come from the factory they are removable without breaking them apart, and if you do split them they are unlikely to fit back together? I will keep working on them for now at least, thanks again for the info though, never had to deal with them on my06
Mines had a tiny gap just enough to annoy me. Both of them. I just used all weather bond (a bit tougher than crazy glue) and held them tight with zip ties for 24 hrs. Removed the zip ties and used a razor to slice the excess clean off. Hoops are still solid after 2 months.
