Default Interior / Map light problem

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but Electronics didn't seem right either.

My interior and map lights stopped working. It doesn't matter what position the switch is set to. The bulbs and fuse seemed OK but I replaced them anyway just to be safe. Still no workee.

For me it is an annoyance but my wife REALLY hates getting in and out in the dark. Any suggestions of what I should try next?

here is one reason the light may stop working. mine got to the point where it would work randomly, then it quit all together. cleaning the contact points per the aforementioned thread fixed it back to good as new

A friend suggested that as a problem. I'm going to look at it this weekend. Thanks for the link; the detailed step-by-step will be very useful!

Thanks for the suggestion. That was exactly what the problem was. I dismantled it as show in the link (and thanks for that too!) to discover nasty white/green corrosion. Some WD-40 on a paper towel cleaned it right up, then I hit the contacts with some 400grit wet/dry followed by another wipe of WD-40 to try and discourage future corrosion.

It works great now!

also try and bend the contacts, if you can, or get some electrical grease to make sure contacts touch.

LOL, I'm ashamed to admit this often works for me.
