Default Looking to get a headunit

Gonna be my first "mod" to my S. Really need a headunit cause i'm tired of burning cds.

Definitely getting the modifry dci, but I don't know which headunit to get. Looking around...I'm loving the look of the Sony CDX-GT930UI. But i don't know if the radio cover will close, or if there's something out there better for the price.

Pretty sick, huh? It costs $230.

Also, for a guy that knows nothing about wiring. Will the modifry dci be easy to install? I've done all my work to cars I've had, just never wired anything lol.

i personally wouldnt get a sony head unit,...i mean they work but there are others that specialize in head units where sony is kinda the maker of everything.
Alpine ida-x305 or ida-x305s(pandora edition) are good choices for MEDIA only(not a cd reciever).....i personally am going to get the Alpine cda-117 because it has "RDA"....displays the song info if the radio station has it and it still has a cd player.
both retail for about 350 but can be found cheaper online.
i'd stick with an alpine personally just because of the fact the modifry WILL work it,....it will work with others as well but sometimes its a pain to check to see which unit is compatible with the DCI from modifry.
and it is just plug and play for installation. simple

Didn't think about that. Looked at and read about that ida-x305, and found it for under $250. Think I'm gonna go with that. the Pandora edition is too much and I'll probably never use pandora on it lol. And the cda-117 with RDA looks/seems cool but i never use radio stations now and if i have an ipod-ready h/u, i'll never use cd's anyways.

thanks a lot bro, i really appreciate it. think i'm gonna go with the x305 along with the wired modifry.

If you get modifry's plug and play harness in addition to the DCI, it'll be all plug and play. I went with that setup with the ida x305 and installation was a breeze.

I just installed a Kenwood KDC-X993 with the modifry DCI and harness. I'm quite happy with the result.

my dad has the previous version of the ida-x305 and it is a spectacular head unit. his only regret is lack of CD. I recently picked up cda 105 and although it isn't fully installed(waiting for modifry dci) it fits and having heard it in the store definitely would recommend it

Interesting. I thought I wanted CD playing capability so I went with the CDA-9886. Never have used the CD player. Wish I had gone with an IDA series.

Guess YMMV.
